Kentucky Derby themed centerpieces with horse, jockey, trophy & roses.

This years Kentucky Derby is May 5, 2012

held at Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky.

The derby is a great theme to use for a party.

We were asked to design a few centerpieces that were derby related.

The Kentucky Derby is considered "The Run for the Roses" so with this in mind we used a custom cutout of a horse shoe that we covered with silk greenery and red roses. We cutout a running horse and placed a custom cutout of a jockey on the horse. The horse was lightly glittered with a bronze glitter and the jockey was fully covered with red glitter. We added a suede string for the horse harness, a paper blanket with a number on it and a custom sign, "Kentucky Derby 2012"

The idea for this came from the derby's winner trophy. We made a custom cutout of the winners trophy and used gold glitter to cover it. The base is a combination of silk greenery and tiny red roses. For the base we used a bronze charger plate for a classy look.

This centerpiece was created to be used at a fun raiser with a derby theme. There are 20 top contenders in the finals of the derby. This party needed something to represent each horse and jockey that would be in the race. We created a smaller horse than the one shown above and each jockey would be color coordinated to their coat colors for the race. The paper blanket would host their number. A sign with their coat and number also complimented this piece as well as a sign with the horse's name. The guests would then place their tickets in bins that coordinated with each jockey making this a fun interactive event. If the derby isn't your thing, but you do like horses, let us custom created something unique for you. contact us at: Ginny@DesignsbyGinny.com www.DesignsbyGinny.com
